it’s almost midnight and I’m in a weird part of the city. I’ve only been here once, many years ago… to meet up with an old boyfriend of mine. There are almost no cars and i’m surrounded by huge lofts that tower over me. Only one window has light coming from it, a string of those novelty icicle-shaped lights that people hang in winter. It’s April, and they’re winking at me playfully from a third story apartment in a city I don’t live in anymore!
